The Cloud has DR baked in right? right?

Main Talk:
When the systems were in our datacenter, we worried about how to recover them. We held DR exercises, we had off-site backups, and we did mock recoveries. Ok, somebody did that stuff somewhere. But then we moved to the cloud. Now, we have GRS and region pairs. Finally, our data and systems are safe by default and we can rest easy. Or are they and can we? What would actually happen if the region that was hosting our systems actually went down? Not down until they can resplice the fiber that Cletus cut while putting in a makeshift swimming pool. Down as in this is the plot line for Twister 3 meets Jurassic Park 14. What would survive? Would our data still be there? What will continue to work? In this, we take a quick look at what we SHOULD be doing, how we SHOULD be planning DR, and what WILL happen when the raptors that aren't spinning at 10K are running free around the facility.
