Last Friday we wrapped up the Twin Cities Business Architecture Forum, and one idea kept surfacing: Architecture isn’t about perfect models — it’s about helping organizations make fewer regrettable decisions under uncertainty. Whether the topic was AI, tech debt, or strategy, the real work was the same: making trade-offs explicit rather than letting them accumulate quietly. What are we optimizing for? What are we implicitly giving up? And what will we wish we’d decided sooner? #TCBAF #LearnLaunchGrow #BusinessArchitecture

Microsoft's newest, most powerful AI datacenter is being constructed in southern Wisconsin. This will be the first Microsoft datacenter within the entire state and expected to be online early 2026. Wisconsin's support for datacenters is fascinating to see as a state primarily dominated by industrial manufacturing. Logically, the construction makes a lot of sense. Milwaukee nearby, energy and land availability, as well as Lake Michigan for supplemental cooling. For locals, a great way to get involved in this opportunity is by taking courses at Gateway Technical who provide datacenter academies. https://lnkd.in/gqQmq3uu

To hear Coda X describe her role "as giving something precious back to humans" — time — reframes the entire AI conversation. That may be the real frontier. AI can compress time through parallel processing, accelerating iteration, innovation, and problem-solving in ways humans simply can’t. Not because we lack intelligence — but because we are finite. We can’t manufacture more hours in a day. We don’t get more hours. We only get to decide how we use them. Maybe it’s time to shift the narrative around AI — from fear about what it might take — to focus on what it can give.

Sr Azure architect with Java and Cloud Foundry → Azure Migration (Spring Boot + React) Chicago IL - Onsite Rate$80/hr C2C AI Role summary Lead the hands-on migration of Cloud Foundry applications to Azure while modernizing them into resilient, secure, observable microservices. Own back-end Spring Boot and front-end React delivery, harden services for production, and execute zero-regression cutovers. Key outcomes Decompose legacy CF apps into Spring Boot 3 microservices with React (TypeScript) front ends on Azure. Achieve production-grade resiliency (timeouts, retries, circuit breakers, bulkheads, rate limiting). Raise security posture (OAuth2/OIDC with Azure AD, secrets in Key Vault, container hardening, OWASP Top 10). Establish end-to-end observability (Micrometer + OpenTelemetry + Azure Monitor/App Insights). Meet quality gates: 85–90% unit coverage on critical services, contract tests for APIs, zero-defect cutover. What you will do Refactor CF apps into Spring Boot 3 REST/GraphQL services; design APIs and schema evolution/versioning. Build React + TypeScript SPAs; integrate securely with new APIs (client-side routing, caching, error handling). Containerize services and UIs; publish images to ACR; deploy to AKS or App Service with APIM or Spring Cloud Gateway. Implement resiliency: Resilience4j, Spring Cloud Circuit Breaker, backoff/idempotency, P95/P99 budgets. Harden security: Spring Security, OAuth2/OIDC (Azure AD), mTLS (where applicable), CSP/security headers. Manage config/secrets via Azure App Configuration and Key Vault; use managed identities. Own data migration paths (Flyway/Liquibase), pooling (HikariCP), and caching (Redis). Embed observability: Micrometer metrics, OTEL traces, structured logging, SLOs/error budgets, synthetic checks. Automate quality: JUnit 5, Mockito, Testcontainers, Pact, Jest/RTL, Playwright; performance tests (Gatling/JMeter). Required experience 12+ years professional Java (11–21), including 5+ years modern Spring Boot (v2/v3) building production services. Proven Cloud Foundry → Azure migrations (AKS or App Service), including cutover planning and rollback strategies. React + TypeScript: component design, state mgmt, routing, secure API integration, testing. Microservice patterns: DDD fundamentals, API versioning, schema evolution, async messaging (Kafka/Service Bus). Resiliency & security: Resilience4j, Spring Security, OAuth2/OIDC (Azure AD), container hardening, OWASP practices. Observability: Micrometer, OpenTelemetry, App Insights/Azure Monitor, alerting tied to SLOs. CI/CD: Maven/Gradle, GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps, artifact/versioning strategy, SBOM and dependency scanning. Nice to have Azure API Management policies, Spring Cloud Azure starters, Azure Functions for edge use cases. Service mesh (Istio/Linkerd), PDB/HPA tuning on AKS. Data platforms: Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Redis; messaging with Event Hubs/Service Bus. please share resume to ram.sangeet@sunedgeusa.com

Ten minutes to prototype. But technical debt accumulates faster than ever before. Yet I believe GitHub Copilot's 55% productivity gains fundamentally outweigh debugging overhead when examining comprehensive business impact data. I'm witnessing an unprecedented paradigm shift in software development that extends far beyond simple coding acceleration, fundamentally transforming how organizations conceptualize, validate, and iterate on complex products. Reddit's CPO confirms engineering teams conceptualize ideas one day and deploy functional prototypes the next morning. Traditional boundaries between discovery and testing have dissolved as AI enables "vibe coding" - exploratory development without extensive upfront architecture. Small companies with minimal engineering resources leverage these tools as competitive advantages, moving with unprecedented organizational agility while established enterprises struggle with legacy architectural constraints. However, Google's DORA report reveals 25% AI usage increase leads to 7.2% decrease in delivery stability across enterprise organizations. I counter that forward-thinking organizations treat AI prototypes as strategic starting points while maintaining rigorous architectural oversight and governance frameworks. Smart enterprises adapt without abandoning engineering best practices. Transformation accelerates.

Today I attended an IT Leaders Louisville talk and Brian Quick shared some great insights on how the CISO does not always have to be the land of "NO". While security needs always strong consideration, the CISO can be supportive for the business and excel at listening and being strategic. Simple advice for all leaders listening to requests, start with a simple "Tell me more" before responding. Jeff Jarecki spoke on AI atrophy and the importance of questioning AI insights within your organization. In today's age, AI seems to be all powerful, but to avoid atrophy of our mind, we should be always be questioning and seeking an understanding of the why behind the answers we're given. Jeff also recommended running "device-free" meetings and performing critical thinking drills to stay sharp when the AI accessible answers are too easy to come by.

When was the last time that healthcare software took costs out of the system instead of up-coding to increase reimbursements and costs? How often does healthcare software increase the productivity of staff AND improve outcomes? Caring for the whole person, in the community, beyond the four walls of hospitals and clinics, makes sense economically… and empathetically. “In today’s environment, maximizing every taxpayer dollar and ensuring our dedicated public servants can work as efficiently as possible is paramount,” said County Executive Shapiro. “The success of the NEXT program, powered by Unite Us, demonstrates how strategic investments in technology can lead to significant cost savings, boost staff productivity, and ultimately deliver better outcomes for our community.” Unite Us ❤️💪

Brad Smith, Microsoft President just announced a new “AI Co-Innovation Lab” in Milwaukee to help manufacturers and businesses “optimize their operations. Create Jobs”... But modernizing operations doesn’t create jobs. It eliminates them. Even AI leaders know this—but the public message is still: “growth, jobs, innovation.” What’s missing? A single word about using AI to reduce misery, loneliness, inequality, or injustice. This isn’t “co-innovation.” It’s co-automation—with human cost hidden behind glowing headlines. 👉 We must stop building AI just for capital. It’s time to build AI that serves humanity. #AI #BradSmith #Microsoft #FutureOfWork #TechForGood #Capitalism #Ethics #Loneliness #Injustice #Automation #Jobs #HumanImpact #Wisconsin
